We are a research group affiliated to Materials Genome Institute of Shanghai University and led by Qiang Sun. We have a wide range of research interests in surface science, materials of interests from molecules to 2D materials. A particular focus is placed on the atomically precise synthesis and atomic scale characterization of novel low-dimensional nanostructures or nanomaterials through surface sensitive techniques.
The main goals of our work include:

- Artificial intelligence in surface science including machine vision automated target detection, properties prediction and materials design.
- High-throughput, bottom-up construction of molecular nanostructures with atomic precision: supramolecular structures and covalently linked structures.
- Characterization of single molecules and nanostructures on surfaces: electronic, optical and transport properties at the single molecule level.
- Developing and promoting new chemistry on surfaces.
